With the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease for your aging parent, it is an alarming event for them and the family.
Approximately, 50 to 70% of dementia cases are Alzheimer's disease. Unfortunately, there is no known cure, for this gradual and fatal disease. Consequently, decisions are required for the aging parent, spouse and the family. The care required may be at home, with a caregiver; an assisted living facility; or a nursing home.
At Senior Life Care Planning we encourage you to research Alzheimer's disease symptoms and the prognosis. Caring for someone with Alzheimer's is physically, mentally and emotionally draining. Therefore, we stress that you have to look after yourself, and become an advocate for your loved one. Because just like you, someone with Alzheimer's needs to be loved and needed by their family.
