DOJ Issues Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for ADA-Compliant Government Websites
On May 9, 2016, the Department of Justice published its Supplemental Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking titled “Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability; Accessibility of Web Information and Services of State and Local Government Entities (SANPRM)” in the Federal Register. Accordingly, the public comment period for the SANPRM is now open. The public comment period will close on August 8, 2016. The new regulations are a response to state and local governments’ failure to utilize voluntary Web accessibility standards.
Public comments on the SANPRM may be submitted here.
